I wish to give two thumbs up to Joshua and his team member on the repairs they completed last week to my 10+(?) year old residential roof. They seamlessly replaced shingles in two areas that had slipped out of alignment due to faulty installation by the original installer. Joshua diagnosed the problem and showed me photos of the exposed decking that allowed rainwater under the roof. I have always heard good things about Walter D. Witt for as long as I have lived here. So, when I purchased my home and was in the middle of many repairs and renovations, I knew a roof and gutters were on the list. I reached out to Chris at Walter D. Witt for a quote and was pleasantly surprised how fast he responded and how helpful he was with all my many questions. However, I was not quite ready for the roof replacement as I had several other projects going on already and also had to request permission from HOA for both the roof and the gutters before install could take place. I informed Mr. Witt of my situation and let him know I would be in touch when the timing was right. So, after a few months I was ready to tackle the roof and gutter project and I contacted Walter D. Witt again to say lets move forward and I was informed I would need a new estimate due to the time that had elapsed since the previous quote. I was completely fine with this as he was correct that enough time had gone by and the pricing of materials may have changed. So, I began the wait for a new quote. After a week or so and a couple of emails asking for my quote I was blown off and ignored by Chris and the only response I received was he was to busy at the time to provide me a quote. I continued to wait without reaching out to any other roofing companies for quotes as I really wanted to go with Chris. Another week or two went by with an email or two from Chris stating he would get to my quote within a couple days. Again, nothing in the way of a quote from Chris was received. I asked again and was told by Chris he was going to take off Friday and catch up on "things like this". Of course Friday came and went with no word from Chris. After a day or so, I reached back out and was informed that I would have to wait until the spring of 2026 for a new quote. Not only have i now wasted 4 to 6 weeks waiting on Chris but now I have to start the process of getting quotes from other companies all over again. I could have already had my roof and gutters installed by this time had I not been strung along by Chris. I know people have off days and I am not here to say dont use Walter D. Witt as I am sure they do fine quality work. However, I just wanted Chris and the public to know that the bind Chris put me in was very avoidable had he been professional and let me know he was just to busy for my project. Also, I feel as though he blew me off because I did not pull the trigger on my project after he provided me the first quote. Free estimates are just that, free estimates. You should not offer free estimates if you are going to in turn treat your potential customer poorly if they do not immediately jump and approve the install you quoted. Some people may want an estimate just to get an idea of what the project may cost, others may want to get quotes for comparison, and some may want to jump immediately. However, that is the customers choice and to be treated poorly because I took some time to think about the $35,000.00 plus project you quoted me. I have found several other local roofing companies that have great reviews also. So Chris, you missed out on this $35,000 and your competitor got it just for not being just another common contractor.
